Established in 1992, Karnataka Hybrid Micro Devices Limited (KHMDL) was founded in partnership with ISRO to design and manufacture thick-film hybrid microcircuits for spacecraft applications. Backed by Karnataka Finance Corporation and MTI, USA, KHMDL set up its manufacturing facility in Electronics City, Bangalore in 1994, expanding into Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) for telecom and industrial sectors.
A strategic shift in 2001 positioned KHMDL as a key player in Aerospace, Automotive Electronics, Hybrid Microelectronics, and Avionics Manufacturing. The company holds line certification for space-grade hybrid devices, supplying over 75,000 HMC and resistor networks to ISRO, including for the Chandrayaan-2 seismometer and other major space missions.
KHMDL has also indigenized over 25 automotive-grade HMCs, becoming one of India’s largest manufacturers of voltage regulators, and exporting to global OEMs like Lucas-TVS and Denso. With over 25 million HMCs and 20 million voltage regulators produced at six-sigma quality levels, its footprint spans automotive to defense.
In defense avionics, KHMDL has partnered with DARE and HAL, delivering 45,000 avionics assemblies for aircraft like Sukhoi Su-30 and Jaguar.
Continuing its innovation drive, KHMDL has forayed into medical electronics (bio-sensors, RT-PCR) and solar energy, developing products like solar charge controllers with MPPT.
